Instrument Rating

Empower yourself. Go the next level of flying proficiency.

The Instrument Rating Certification Course is designed to prepare the non-instrument rated pilot to operate safely and confidently in adverse weather conditions. Airlines throughout the world indicate that during the initial hiring process, instrument flying skills are rated above everything else.

An instrument rating improves your flying skills and allows you greater flexibility as a pilot. A pilot who is "instrument qualified" is more prepared when weather conditions deteriorate. The instrument pilot will be able to safely and legally fly through conditions of low cloud cover and low visibility.

Earning your instrument rating is similar to your private rating in that you must take both a written and a practical test. You will have certain maneuvers that you are expected to perform within specific parameters.

For at-home training, we recommend the Cessna Cleared for Approach Instrument Kit. The CBI's CD-ROM format allows you to learn without ever opening a book or stepping into a classroom. Study wherever you go. At home. At the office. Even while traveling - anywhere you can find 30 minutes to complete a lesson.
