Business Aviation Opens

New Showcase Hangar

Business Aviation opened their new showcase hangar and hosted a visit from Vice-President Al Gore on March 22, 1999. This hangar is designed to showcase the new Cessna Aircraft. The large plate glass windows in the hangar provide a great view of the aircraft from Minnesota Avenue.

Business Aviation became an authorized Cessna Sales Team Representative (CSTAR) and Cessna Pilot Center in August 1998. With increased interest for aircraft ownership, 9 new Cessna aircraft have been sold since August 1998. This demonstrates the need for new aircraft ownership in the aviation community. There are many opportunities and incentives provided by Cessna to help aircraft buyers. Call Steve Wilson at 336-7791 ext. 61.

Business Aviation Receives

Approval For New Inspection

Programs and New Ratings For

Larger Aircraft

Business Aviation has just received approval for the 182S Cessna Phase Card inspection program. Cessna developed this program realizing that older Cessna aircraft did not require inspection of all areas every 100 hours. This phase card program covers the whole aircraft over a 600 hour 12 month period eliminating much of the wasted time needed to, look at items that never wear out. The Cessna Phase Card program will greatly reduce labor hours, down time, and save wear and tear on the aircraft.

Our Repair Station has also received ratings for the Citation 500 series, Falcon 10, and Shorts Br. 330 and 360. These ratings insure that Business Aviation can proficiently service, maintain and repair these types of aircraft.

BA Courier Adding New Routes

Did you know…

At Joe Foss Field more scheduled freight now passes through the airport than commercial passenger aircraft?

Business Aviation Courier is expanding their freight runs and will add another Metroliner to service a daily freight run between Williston, Minot, and Sioux Falls. This is the second Metroliner aircraft on the Business Aviation Courier Fleet. The other Metroliner services a daily route between Sioux Falls and Rapid City.

Steve Pendegraft, Director of Business Aviation Courier, states, "As the business community grows, so does our freight operations. Sioux Falls is a growing air cargo hub and Business Aviation Courier is proud to be part of that growth."

According to the Sioux Falls Regional Airport Authority, 152,500 pounds of airfreight are loaded and unloaded every day.

Business Aviation Line Service

Handles New US Postal Contract

evergreen.JPG (37187 bytes)

The Business Aviation Line Department has a new mail contract for ground handling of two D-C9 aircraft that are operated by Evergreen Corporation for the US Postal Service. Upon arrival, our line crew downloads the containers and then reloads the aircraft, fuels, deices or provides other related service all in the 30 minute time frame required. Many times the turnaround of the aircraft is accomplished in 15 minutes or less,

Each flight contains 3-5 containers with 5,000 pounds in each container. In one month the Business Aviation crew handled 454,338 pounds of cargo. The flight crews of these aircraft have given Business Aviation a seal of "outstanding performance" and state "BA is one of the best line crews in the country."

New Faces at the Flight School

Our computer based flight instruction has revolutionized how we do pilot training. Seventy new students started at the BA School of Aeronautics, since August of 1998. With new students, we have also increased our flight instruction staff. Two new instructors have started this year. completed his BS in Aerospace at Metro State in Denver. Though there were many varied opportunities in Denver, the wide-open spaces of South Dakota beckoned him home.

Ben Roller, BA’s newest addition to the flight instructor staff, comes from Sporty’s in

schdanw.jpg (29533 bytes) Dan Walter joins BA from Air Response Air Ambulance in Denver, Colorado, where he was a mechanic’s assistant. Dan, originally from schbenr.jpg (33185 bytes) Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was a CFII. Ben, raised in Richwood, Ohio, always wanted to be a pilot! As a young boy he built model planes and was fascinated by aircraft. Ben achieved his AA in Aviation Technology and BS in Professional
Sturgis, SD, comes from a family of pilots. Two uncles and a brother confirmed that aviation would be a good career (if he couldn’t be a NFL player—another dream). Dan attended college at SDSU in Brookings and Aeronautics from University of Cincinnati/Enbry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Ben followed his heart to Sioux Falls, and we are thrilled, as he is a true asset to our Flight School.

You Can Become a New Cessna Owner…

Become a Fractional Owner

You can buy and operate a brand new Skyhawk for less than a used aircraft. Cessna offers great incentives to participate in the purchase of Cessna Skyhawk that is fully equipped with IFR, GPS, moving map, coupled auto pilot, and a 4-place intercom. This aircraft is very quiet with 160 HP at 2400RPM and acoustic soundproofing.

To maximize the use of this aircraft, our Aircraft Sales Executive, Steve Wilson, can put together 2-3 interested parties to share ownership. Business Aviation School of Aeronautics can also utilize this aircraft in the flight instruction program. Steve states, "There has not been one person that does not just totally love the new Skyhawk when they open it up. We want more people to enjoy this great opportunity."

Right now we have an opportunity for 1/10th ownership in a New Cessna 182 in the Skylane Flyers LLC Flying Club. For only $3500 down and $175 per month for 10 years you can be a 1/10th owner of this beautiful aircraft await you. Now, more than ever, flying is affordable and attainable.
